Hearing Impairment Provision
Introducing Maz….

Maz is the schools hearing impairment lead. Maz works closely with the Education Team for Hearing and Vision (ETHV) and audiology to ensure that our students receive support with their hearing impairments.
As part of the hearing impairment lead role there are a number of roles including: monitoring hearing good practice within the classrooms, coordinating external training to our staff to ensure they have up to date knowledge about hearing impairment and delivering bespoke training to class teams so they can provide personalised and individualised support to our students.
Within school we have a range of personalised social stories we have created to support students with hearing impairments whether this is; going for an appointment, having a hearing impairment or cochlear implant fitted alongside resources we use from the National Deaf Children’s Society.
Maz plays a pivotal role in ensure that our students have correct and functioning equipment and co-ordinating with the ETHV team regarding repairs. Maz carries out 1:1 session with students to ensure that their hearing targets are being worked on, monitored and recorded against. Within school we use Signalong as part of our Total Communication Approach and we have staff within each classroom training to foundation level.
Please ask our class teams if you require any further information 🙂
