Congratulations Dr Frances George PhD

After many years of hard work and dedication, she graduated at York Minster, completing her thesis entitled “The importance of body alignment in children with cerebral palsy”.   As part of this, Frances has led clinically-based research on areas including abducted standing, dynamic standing and posture.

Her research has been well recognised across the UK and wider.  Frances has shared her knowledge widely having published several research articles and presented at conferences, including at the World Physiotherapy Congress.

Frances has developed a clinical posture assessment the “Clinical Assessment of Body Alignment (CABA)”, as part of her PhD research. This aims to support therapists to easily identify and monitor a child’s posture and measure the effectiveness of their interventions such as provision of postural equipment.

Following on from the success of her PhD, Frances is now a research associate affiliated to York St John and Huddersfield Universities. She continues to undertake research, with several projects currently underway including, the usability of the CABA assessment by teaching assistants and wider non-therapy roles and dynamic standing therapy approaches.

Please join us in congratulating Frances, now a Consultant Physiotherapist, on her outstanding achievement.
