Welcome

Our purpose...to engage children in creative and enjoyable learning activities that are of functional value to them now and in their future lives. 

Humberston Park School is an all-through, standalone Special Academy, offering day provision for young people aged 3-19 with Severe and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Autism and/or neurological conditions and associated complex special educational needs, medical and physical disabilities. 

We have 140 pupils on roll. 

Many pupils at HPS have complex additional needs, requiring physical and medical support. This is provided by a high-quality transdisciplinary team including a Complex Health Nurse, a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, a Consultant Physiotherapist and MOVE team, Class Team Leads [teachers], specialist Teaching Assistants and HLTAs.  

All pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans [EHCPs]. 

Humberston Park School is a recognised MOVE Centre of Excellence.   

 

How we keep improving... 

School improvement and development is driven forwards through three key domains: LeadershipTransdisciplinarity & Learning and Professional Practice.  All three domains are ensuring HPS continues to explore and embed creative, outcome-orientated educational excellence. 

The Leadership Team ensure that moral purposeprofessional learningwellbeing of staff and students and quality assurance processes support an environment for creative and enjoyable learning and a workplace that is professional, mindful and caring.  

Transdisciplinarity and learning across the School is underpinned by a culture of reflection and continuing development of the best climate for learning for the range of pupils’ needs.  Staff are skilled in using a variety of meaningful and relevant facilitation and delivery approaches and understanding effective learning behaviours

Professional practice is ensuring that we engage with all key stakeholders on a regular basis, engage with evidence-based research, principled assessment and curriculum design that is appropriate and under continual review to meet all aspects of pupils’ personal needs.
